This session will cover proper use of the bowl gouge on facegrain turning.  We will look at the most common grinds: Traditional, Irish, 40/40, and "bottom feeder",  and learn the uses and advantages of each.  We will work with wood mounted in the facegrain orientation, and learn how to cut with bevel support onto wood with supported grain.

Participants should bring their own bowl gouges, and are encouraged to bring several if you have them.

Participants are expected to attend the AWA meeting Saturday morning to see the topic presented.

Be sure to attend the AWA meeting in the morning (9:00 AM at Hardware Park https://alabamawoodturners.com/meetings/)

Are Minors allowed? Only if accompanied by parent.

What to wear: You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long sleeves should be avoided if possible and rolled up if necessary. Long hair must be tied back and dangly necklaces, earrings or other accessories shall be removed before starting the class.
