Learn how to make decorative raised / relief work in metal.

In this course students will be introduced to the tools, process, and procedures of creating raised and relief work in a process called repoussé and chasing. Repoussé is a French word meaning to push back while chasing is the process of pushing in. The process involves using special blunt, polished chisels and methodically working metal from both sides with planned and controlled hammer blows. It’s this dynamic that creates some of the raised and relief decorative metalwork seen in art and armor. In this class students will be tasked with creating a decorative floral pattern whilst following along with the guided help of the instructor.

No prerequisites are needed for the class, the work-level is light to moderate.

Skill Level: Beginner

Age: 18+
