ALABAMA WOODTURNER'S ASSOCIATION CLASS SERIES: Miniature 

Bird House Ornament

(free for all AWA members)

At the morning meeting Mike Peace will demonstrate one of his favorite spindle turning projects, a miniature bird house ornament. He will also show how to make tiny little wooden birds to add that special detail.

Mike will facilitate the hands-on workshop at 1:00 PM in the afternoon at Red Mountain Makers on turning a bird house ornament. He will bring all of the necessary wood and  supplies.


About the Instructor:

Mike Peace enjoys every aspect of woodturning including demonstrating and teaching. He has demonstrated at the American Association of Woodturners symposium in 2016 and 2018, as well as regional symposia and many clubs in the Southeast as well around the world via Interactive Remote Demonstrations. He has taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School.

Mike has published articles in American Woodturner, More Woodturning, Woodturning Design, and Woodturning FUNdamentals.  He uploads a woodturning video, usually weekly, to his YouTube channel Mike Peace Woodturing.  

Mike lives in Suwanee, GA with his wife Barbara. Before retirement, Mike worked at ADP as a payroll software project manager. After serving on active duty in the US Army, Mike stayed active as a reservist retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Are Minors allowed? Only if accompanied by parent.

 

What to wear: You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long sleeves should be avoided if possible and rolled up if necessary. Long hair must be tied back and dangly necklaces, earrings or other accessories shall be removed before starting the class. Additional protective gear will be provided as needed. Masks may be required depending on circumstances.
