FAQS FOR INSTRUCTORS
Can I set my own class schedule?
We will work with you to find times that don’t conflict other classes, and can offer input as to what has worked well in the past.
How much could I make?
Instructors have 2 options: to teach classes on behalf of Red Mountain Makers and to teach classes at Red Mountain Makers
Behalf of Red Mountain Makers- These classes will be based on a few factors. The cost of the class (materials, promotion, etc), the number of students taking the class, the number of instructors teaching and/or the length of the class. Generally, Instructors will make 10-25% of class overall profits.
Teach classes at Red Mountain Makers - Classes taught at the space use of Red Mountain Makers resources to accommodate a class. This means that teachers pay a flat rate for space, use of tools, promotion of their event on our social media networks, and materials we may provide (optional), possible marketing (optional). Teachers however keep profits 100% of their profits. [We do encourage donating profits to the space :)]
Would I have help advertising my classes?
We publicize for all our classes and reach most students through our website and social media. Instructors are aware the advertising your class is a joint effort and that any help marketing is available option for instructors.
Are there Class Cap Sizes?
Yes, we however that truly depends on your class type. We do have a cap on how many people can be in each lab at a time and that will be discussed when you proceed further with your class proposals. We want you to have a highly successful class and if interest is high then we encourage setting more then one date.
What can I teach?
Teaching is usually related to science, technology, engineering, art, and math. We offer open collaborative space, sewing room, metalworking tools, woodshop, ceramics kiln, science lab, circuits/hack zone, 3D printers, and more. Your teaching oppotunites are limitless so consider what you would like to teach at out space.
What if I want to teach for free?
If you want to offer free instruction to your friend, community members or maker members, that’s welcome. Non-members will have to pay for membership to cover their entry and use of the lab spaces. If you want to volunteer your time to teach our classes, you’re free to (we are open to suggestion on classes)! If you need exclusive access, we may have to bump you from the schedule to make room for paid classes, we do our best not to do that.
